Starting with your outfit. Use 1-2 colors and then incorporate the same colors or others into your makeup. If you are more on the timid side of color, the monochromatic trend is still happening. Create your outfit using that guide (see below- the color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using it’s own shades, tones and tints), then take a risk with color on your makeup.

Ok, let’s get into the makeup side of things. Start with a slight dewy or luminous glow for the face. This will create a perfect base for the natural monochromic tone to play up your features. Add a bright or metallic pop of color instead of the traditional black for your liner. A colorful winged eyeliner will make any monochromatic look stand out. You can also try adding a bold lip or colored mascara.

Now, for the brave. Use a variety of stripes, florals, solids or different colors of blue-jean as your outfit. Mixing different designs and textures will have you look runway ready.

Keep in mind the complimentary colors when adding in the makeup. Try a mix of colors transitioning into each other for the eyes and add a bold or neon lip. You can hold off on the contouring and highlighting since the colors will be the main focus.

The current trends are a mix of the 70’s, 80โ€™s and 90โ€™s styles; and will stay here through summer. So have fun trying them all!
